DABILL wins BTC5...and more GG weekend news
(Article Posted: 2010-06-22)
The Neath Motor Club event was at a new venue near Ammanford in S.Wales. Nobody knew what to expect and congrats must go to the club for organising a very good event. A little on the easy side (helped by excellent weather) but with a new venue it’s difficult to gauge the sections perfect.
Dibs was in a relaxed mood which was good because I know how much he wanted to win first time out on the new RAGA bike. He was leading after the first lap with only one mark lost but a couple of slack dabs on lap 2 saw him slip to second behind ‘on-form’ Browny. Dibs was still relaxed and although under pressure going into his last lap he rode confidently. A couple of slack marks didn’t worry him and he was under control for his 5th straight win of the series.
Wiggy was second and Browny third after suffering ‘mechanical gremlins’ on the last lap.
This was a good win for Dibs because he hates easy events when he knows his rivals can get near to him.
Thanks to Big Jack and Factory Kevsta
Thanks to Trialmag for pic.
Team Dibs now moves to FORT WILLIAM this coming weekend for the UK Round of the WTC where we NEED your support. Please come and cheer Dibs on at what will be the best WTC event of the year.. www.ukworldtrial.com
SAM HASLAM (JSTGG) was also out for the first time on a new RAGA bike and had his best BTC result of the year with a solid 4th place. Sam looked good all day and seemed to be in a more confident mood than usual. His last lap of just ‘7’ was impressive. This helped him beat 5th place JR by 15 marks..
ROSS DANBY (JSTGG) is lucky not to be in hospital after an awesome crash on the Saturdays practice lap. Ross gave it to much gas on section 2 and had a monster crash. This defo unnerved Ross (as it would anybody) but he was also thankful that he was ok. Ross finished in 6th place recovering well after a dodgy first lap.
Sam and Ross are close again this year and are only separated by one point in the overall Championship.
SHAUN MORRIS (JSTGG) was also going well until section 8 where his chain came off which wrapped around the front sprocket which locked the engine solid causing internal damage. Shaun maturely asked for ‘fives’ for the rest of the event to finish 9th and still 7 championship points.
CRAIG ROBINSON (JSTGG) was back in action after his broken hand and although still not 100% fixed Craig was eager to ride this weekend and looked very good in places to finish 10th. Good to see him back J
GARY MacDONALD (JSGGG) was also out for the first time on his new RAGA bike and WON the Expert A Class on only 3 marks. This was an even closer Class with Andy Chilton 2nd on 4 marks and James Fry on 5 marks.
This was a good win for Gary especially as his nearest rival Jack Sheppard had a bad day.
DAN FARRER (JSTGG) finished 2nd in the Expert B Class and equaled his best BTC result of the year.
CHRIS STAY (JSTGG) was 2nd in the Youth Class spanking his Team mate CHRIS SHORT who finished 4th.
DAN THORPE (JSTGG) chose to ride the fantastic Wainwright National Trial and WON AGAIN making it now 101 National wins!
JACK STONES (JSTGG) won the B Class at the Youth ‘Scott Trial’ (The Mintex Trophy) and JACK PRICE (B+BJST) was 2nd. Pricey was gutted to have a puncture which may have cost him the win.
HANNAH STYLES (JSTGG) was the best female, 8th best A Class and 19th overall. Hannah enjoyed the event and was disappointed to also have a puncture.
STEVE PLAINS No1 GGUK Enduro Rider ASHLEY WOOD finished an excellent 2nd place at Round 2 of the British Cross Country Championship at Harwood Dale.
GGUK’s LEE SAMPSON finished 5th.
Good Luck to Plainer and the Boyz this week at ‘The Welsh’.
CHRISTOPHE NAMBOTIN, No1 GG Factory Rider won again on Day 1 E3 at the WEC in Slovakia beating Knigher by 42 seconds! Unfortunately Christophe could only manage 4th on Day2.
