Bad weather continues to flog the Enduro World Championship as the bad luck continues to persecute Rodrig Thain and TM Team.
The French TM factory rider in the E2 was presented at the GP of Slovakia finally restored after the wrist injury suffered in Portugal and with the intention to climb again on the world podium.
The race , very selective and made treacherous by the abundant rain falls almost all the weekend, was developed around three special tests for a total of four laps.
Thain after the fourth fastest time achieved in the prologue on Friday, in the first day of competition start on the right foot by immediately recording the fastest time in the cross test and sending a clear signal to his opponents. Thus began the duel "Thain Vs Ahola” for the final victory that after twelve special tests fought on the edge of tenths of a second end for the Finnish three times World Champion for just 8 seconds ahead even that Thain has lost 15' in the enduro test during the last step. Third place for the young Oldrati, winner on Sunday, while finishing fourth the former World Champion Ivan Cervantes.
Based on this strong performance Thain left on Sunday to try to improve his results from the first lap but was unable to find the same feeling with the circuit at the end of which Rodrig passes fifth. He begins to recover on his rivals ahead of him and at the end of the second lap, when he was just 7 seconds by Cervantes who was in third place and 35 seconds by Oldrati who headed the group, leaving the chain on the extreme tests losing about 40 seconds. Very angry for this drawback Thain tries to push again to recover but in the last lap in a Cross Test becomes the victim of a nasty fall that seemed to have serious consequences. Quickly aided and transported to the nearest hospital he was found a breach of the coccyx and the CT scan excluded other damage.
Thain said after first aid: ".... I do not remember what happened! I was pushing very fast, when suddenly probably a hole knocked me up making me fall in front of the bike. I remember then rescuers around me, my girlfriend and people of my team. Special thanks to Alessandro Ferrari to be acted as translator and to FMI Dr. Tettamatti for having followed me to the hospital and assisted me in a very difficult moment. The next GP is at the end of August so I have time to recover without be in hurry..... ".
In E1 class Maurizio Micheluz suffered a bit on Saturday failed to find the right feeling with the track finishing in tenth position while on Sunday was rebuilt after finishing seventh in a comeback race conducted with great determination.
